At the end of the Autumn term, a visitor from the Houses of Parliament came into school.
She spoke to the School Council and also to all of KS2 during an assembly all about Parliament and how we go about voting for our MP at election times. She also challenged the School Council to think of a local issue and to campaign about it. She discussed who were our local representatives.
The School Council decided to campaign for a new lollipop person , as without one, they felt that crossing High Street was becoming dangerous. The children first lobbied Miss Towndrow , only to find she had beaten them to it and a new lollipop person had been appointed!
The Council are now using some of the information provided by our visitor to help them plan an exciting assembly to teach the school about Magna Carta. Watch this space...

great pile of Harvest food.
Your donations will help feed people in need in our area. Our warehouse volunteer was particularly impressed by the children who helped load.
Thank you very much from Chesterfield Foodbank
There are two Derbyshire County Council consultations which may be of interest to students and the wider school community. They relate to proposed changes to the student travel discount scheme, b_line and the School Crossing Patrol service.
The council would like to encourage staff, students and other members of the school community to tell them what they think about our future plans by taking part in consultation questionnaires.
The b_line consultation can be found online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/blinechanges. Closing date for responses is 29 March 2015.
More information about b-line is on the flyer here:
